Don’t Get Sick For Finals: 3 Things You Can Do

Sick

Final exams might still be a ways off, but they’re coming faster than you might expect. If you want to do well, you’re going to need to take care of yourself. Even just a little sickness will hold you back.

Fortunately, there are things you can do to keep illnesses away. Here are just a few tips to help.

Wash Your Hands
One of the easiest ways to make sure you don’t get sick is to wash your hands, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. They advise that you wash your hands before, during, and after you prepare your food, before eating, after using the toilet, after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing, and after touching garbage.

Put the Drink Down
Did you know that alcohol is the number one drug problem in the nation? Not only do about 20% of college students meet the criteria for an Alcohol Use Disorder, but there are more than 5,000 visits to emergency rooms each day related to drug abuse, such as alcohol poisoning. While you may not have a drinking problem, the fact of the matter is that excess alcohol consumption negatively affects the immune system. In other words, if you party too much, your immune system is going to get run down, and you’re going to get sick. Although you don’t necessarily have to teetotal, you should take it easy on the partying until finals are over.

Exercise
Another great way to stay healthy and avoid getting sick is to make sure you exercise regularly. It can help you get rid of your stress, and give you more energy. Although it’d be great if you could hit the gym, it’s enough to get a walk in, or even do some push ups and jumping jacks. Just make sure you take a break from the books to get active.

Injury and illness won’t only hurt you. They’ll also make your grades suffer. Be sure to take these steps to make sure both you and your grades are in tip top shape. If you have any questions, feel free to share in the comments.
